Choosing a Hotel
Las Vegas hotels come in many shapes, sizes, and themes. There's something for everyone, but the trick is knowing which is right for you. Visitors desiring the ultimate in 5-star luxury at any cost can find it at Wynn and Encore, Bellagio, or the Four Seasons.
Deluxe accommodations and outstanding service just a tick down from the 5-star resorts and at slightly more reasonable prices can be found at Mandalay Bay and THEhotel, Caesars Palace, Mirage, Venetian and Palazzo.
Targeting the more mainstream crowd (and budget) are MGM Grand, Paris, New York New York, Luxor, Rio, Treasure Island, and Planet Hollywood. Any of these hotels will fit your vacation budget or business expense account.
Hipsters looking for the party should check into Palms or Hard Rock. A little gem that's off the radar (and the Strip) but definitely worth checking out is Artisan just off Sahara and I-15.
Local hipsters and big-time celebrities looking to avoid the limelight of the Strip find all the action without the unwanted attention at off-Strip resorts such as Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. Technically billed as "locals" casinos, these venues are nearly as posh as many of the 5-star strip resorts, but with more reasonable dining and drinking options.
Bargain hunters can find reasonable rates and comfortable accommodations at a few of the more "venerable properties" on the Strip such as Monte Carlo, Harrah's, Riviera, Sahara, and Tropicana.
Visitors with kids should check out Circus Circus, which true to its name, features not only an actual circus inside, but also a huge amusement park and a trailer facility. Silverton, located south of the Strip on I-15 also offers trailer facilities.
Finally, if you're looking for vintage Las Vegas, head downtown to the Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Plaza, Fitzgeralds, or Binions. These are all older, smaller hotel casinos that still offer all the neon and glitz that made Las Vegas famous in the first place
